One of the best fish and chip places in Toronto. Small dining area for about 15 people, or take out. Long standing family owned business that remembers their regulars names. They offer a variety of fishes (cod, halibut, haddock, salmon, basa) in a light batter.
Everything is made to order. Fries are crispy on the outside, yet thick and creamy on the inside. They have cute spray bottles for malt and white vinegar if you choose to dine in the restaurant. They have a good variety of root beers and sodas too.
Fish tacos are amazing and massive in size for the $5 price. The tortilla is just thick enough so the taco doesn't fall apart.
Burger is juicy, thick and filling. Great value overall. -

Might be my favourite place in the city for Fish and Chips. The staff is extremely friendly and they seem to learn people by name very quickly. Nice personal touch.
It's a tiny establishment but there always seems to be seats available even at the peak of lunch time.
The Halibut is lightly battered and doesn't fall apart as much other places. The fries are thick and tasty. -

Breaded fish in tacos?...no wait, they're not even tacos but Indian parathas!...This was a very disappointing meal since I am a taco lover ...to be fair the quality was pretty good though.

Reliable's has some of the best fish and chips that I've ever had - the batter is dynamite! We came with a group and shared the cod, poutine, fish tacos, and chicken sandwich. Everything we had was fresh, cooked perfectly, and delicious. I was not expecting the chicken sandwich to be as good as it was at a place known for fish and chips, but it tasted amazing. You cannot go wrong with any of those items and I highly recommend all of them.

We arrived right at noon to join a line-up of mostly take-out customers, but our order arrived at our table very quickly and too hot to bite into immediately (an advantage of eating in). We always go for halibut, when it's available, as our tastes were formed during the decades when fish and chip shops proudly displayed a sign saying "We fry halibut only!" The light crispy batter, similar to tempura batter, was almost as good as the fish inside. The chips and coleslaw were also good, and offering malt vinegar in a spray bottle is inspired. The cooler contains a wide range of soft drinks. There are a number of tempting items on the menu if you don't want fish and chips, but why would you pass up the chance of something this good?
